We cannot understand the mystery of the divine Trinity with our human understanding. God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ reign from eternity to eternity in the invisible world in heaven and at the same time want to take up residence in every converted and born-again Christian. Furthermore, God filled the Holy of Holies of the Tabernacle and later the Temple in Jerusalem and also considers his people to be his temple. Before his ascension, Jesus Christ announced the coming of the Holy Spirit as helper. We are to baptize all nations in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19). The Christian church sees this as the third person of the divine Trinity. The Spirit of God has fallen on people at all times, radically changing their lives toward God and giving them the power and authority to be God's instruments. The following Bible passages are intended to demonstrate and prove this.
Why we need the Holy Spirit
Jesus went to the Father in heaven,
who sent the Holy Spirit to us in his place.
John 14:15-17; 16:7-15
The “carnal” Christian cannot resist
the sin that dwells within him, even if he desires good.
Romans 7:14-25;
1 Cor. 3:1-4
The “spiritual” Christian is no
longer under the dominion of sin. His sinful flesh died with Jesus and his body
was made alive again by the Spirit of God who lives in us.
Romans 8:1-16
The Spirit of God suddenly
transforms people into different people. Baptism with the Holy Spirit is rebirth
according to Ezekiel 36:26+27 and John 3:1-12.
Examples Samuel (1 Sam. 3:19); Saul (1 Sam. 10:6); David (1 Sam. 16:13);
Solomon (1 Kings 3:5-15; 4:9-14); Apostles (Acts 2:1-12; 4:13+14+31; 5:12-16);
Stephen (Acts 5:5+8+10); Paul (Acts 9:3-22)
The adversary of God continually
attacks (tempts) women and men of God. They can only resist by the Spirit of God
and in obedience to His Word, otherwise they will sin and even get an evil
spirit when the Spirit of God departs from them. Therefore, they must constantly
invite the Holy Spirit to completely fill them again and again.
Examples Eve (Genesis 3:1-6; 13-16); Saul (1 Sam. 15:9-26; 16:14); David (2
Sam. 12:7-14; 24:1+10-16; 1 Chronicles 21:1-8); Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-13); Jesus
(Luke 4:1-14); Liberated (Matthew 12:43-45); Judas (Luke 22:3+4; Matthew
27:3-5); Peter (Luke 22:31+32); Ananias (Acts 5:3-5); Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11)
There are blameless men whom God
blesses. They are blameless because they always repent and sacrifice (Old
Testament) and thus anticipate Jesus' later sacrificial death.
Examples Enoch (Genesis 5:24); Noah (Genesis 6:8+9); Abraham (Genesis 17:1+2;
24:1+27; 26:5); Elijah (2 Kings 2:11); Job (Job 1:1+8+22; 2:10; 49:10-17)
